Free Online English Course by US Department of State. U.S. Department of State has recently offered Free Online English Course for improving English language skills and knowledge. The U.S. State Department is sponsoring a free Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) for non-native English speakers interested in improving their English language skills and knowledge of the media at the same time. Participants in this course will examine how the media has changed over time, discover the world of advertising and identify targeted marketing strategies, analyze sources for identifying biases, and examine how diversity representation in the media affects individual identity and society.

Free Online English Course by US Department of State

This course provides an opportunity to develop a broader understanding of what the media plays in our lives while building the vocabulary and language skills needed to analyze what we read and see. M00C is self-paced, which means participants will study independently without facilitation from any instructor. This course has offered by the Online Professional English Network (OPEN), a U.S. Department of State initiative, and is administered by FHI 360, a U.S.-based nonprofit human development organization.

How to Enroll or Apply for Free Online English Course by U.S. Department of State

Enrollment is currently open. Participants can enroll in this course until March 19, 2022.  After enrolling, participants may log in at any time in day or night to access the course via online.  All the modules of coursework must need to complete by March 29, 2022.  Participants who complete the required activities with a score of 70% or higher will receive a digital badge and certificate.  This “English for Media Literacy” MOOC is designed for non-native English-speakers interested in improving their language skills and knowledge of the media.
