হাইকোর্ট ২০১৯ সালের ২৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষকদের বেতন স্কেল ১০ম গ্রেড করাসহ গেজেটেড পদমর্যাদা দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দেন। প্রশিক্ষণপ্রাপ্ত ও প্রশিক্ষণবিহীন উভয়ক্ষেত্রেই প্রবেশ পদে বেতন স্কেল দশম গ্রেড করতে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়। সেই সঙ্গে গেজেটেড পদমর্যাদা ২০১৪ সালের ৯ মার্চ থেকে কার্যকর করতে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়। কিন্তু ২০২২ সালের ৬ জানুয়ারি এ বিষয়ে রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে সরকারের করা আপিলের চূড়ান্ত শুনানি শেষে আপিল খারিজ করে দিয়ে রায় দেন তৎকালীন প্রধান বিচারপতির নেতৃত্বাধীন আপিল বিভাগের পূর্ণাঙ্গ বেঞ্চ। হাইকোর্ট বিভাগ ও আপিল বিভাগের ওই রায় দীর্ঘ তিন মাসেও কার্যকর না করায় প্রধান শিক্ষকেরা আদালত অবমাননার মামলা করেন।
