According to the new announcement in the notice, the increase in fuel prices will be effective from 12 midnight on Friday. Earlier on Friday afternoon, while talking to the media persons in Baridhara of the capital, the Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid hinted at the increase in the price of gas, electricity and fuel oil. He said, in the context of rising prices in the world market, it is time to raise the prices of diesel, petrol, octane, gas and electricity to a reasonable level.

The state minister emphasised the potential for cost savings through the automation of management and administration, suggesting that prices could decrease further if the global market remains stable. On Tuesday, Hamid hinted at a slight reduction in the prices of petrol, octane, diesel, and kerosene as part of the initial price adjustment under the new system, though specific details on the price reduction were not provided yet.

Nasrul Hamid said, if the price has not adjusted with the world market now, it will cause a lot of damage. He said that the people-friendly Awami League government always takes decisions considering the comfort and convenience of our people.

প্রজ্ঞাপনে বলা হয়, বিশ্ববাজারের সঙ্গে জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্য সমন্বয় করতে ডিজেল ও কেরোসিন ১০৬ টাকা, পেট্রোল ১২২ টাকা এবং অকটেন ১২৬ টাকা নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে।
প্রজ্ঞাপনে নতুন ঘোষণা অনুযায়ী, শুক্রবার দিবাগত রাত ১২টা থেকে জ্বালানি তেলের বর্ধিত দাম কার্যকর হবে। এর আগে শুক্রবার বিকেলে রাজধানীর বারিধারায় গণমাধ্যমকর্মীদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে বিদ্যুৎ, জ্বালানি ও খনিজসম্পদ প্রতিমন্ত্রী নসরুল হামিদ গ্যাস, বিদ্যুৎসহ জ্বালানি তেলের দাম বৃদ্ধির ইঙ্গিত দিয়েছিলেন. তিনি বলেন, বিশ্ববাজারে দাম বেড়ে যাওয়ার প্রেক্ষাপটে ডিজেল, পেট্রোল, অকটেন, গ্যাস ও বিদ্যুতের দাম বাড়িয়ে যৌক্তিক পর্যায়ে নিয়ে আসার সময় এসেছে।
নসরুল হামিদ বলেন, বিশ্ব বাজারের সাথে এখন দাম সমন্বয় না করলে অনেক ক্ষতি হয়ে যাবে.
তিনি বলেন, জনবান্ধব আওয়ামী লীগ সরকার সব সময় আমজনতার স্বস্তি ও স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য বিবেচনা করে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়. যতদিন সম্ভব ছিল ততদিন সরকার জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্য বৃদ্ধির চিন্তা করে নাই. অবস্থার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে অনেকটা নিরুপায় হয়েই কিছুটা এডজাস্টমেন্টে যেতে হচ্ছে। ২০১৬ সালের এপ্রিল মাসে সরকার জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্য কমিয়ে দিয়েছিল. পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক হলে সে অনুযায়ী জ্বালানি তেলের মূল্য পুনঃবিবেচনা করা হবে।
