Recent Success of Ministry of Textiles and Jute
The Ministry of Textiles and Jute has made an important contribution to the growth of industrialization, employment and exports in the country. Three jute mills and two textile mills have been started with their own funds. In the financial year 2013-14, exports in the textile and jute sector accounted for 87.04% of the total export earnings. 9,480 skilled manpower of various categories (BSc, Diploma, Textile-Vocational) have created in the textile sector. 50,000 jute farmers, 1,300 jute mill officers, 2,550 jute mill workers / employees, 753 weavers and 2,600 silk farmers have trained for skill enhancement and professional development.
Revenue of Tk 35.00 crore has collected from license and inspection fee of textile and jute sector. In the development of weaving industry, a loan of Taka 8.12 crore has been disbursed in favor of weavers and a loan of Taka 7.89 crore has recovered. Jute geotextile has invented as a versatile jute product and initiatives have taken to expand its use. Three new varieties of silkworms and two varieties of mulberry have developed through research in the development of silk cultivation.
Future Plan of Ministry of textiles and Jute
Establishment of suitable training and educational institutes for rapid opening of BTMC mills under PPP, creation of skilled workers and managers in the textile and jute sectors. Establishment of an institute for research in textile, jute, weaving and silk sectors and establishment of textile and jute related museums. To take necessary measures to increase the domestic consumption of jute products.
To provide effective communication and coordination with the concerned government and non-government organizations and stakeholders in the textile, jute, weaving and silk sectors, to provide online services to all the departments / agencies of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. Establishment of database for storage of information in textile and jute sector. Introduction of e-loan management under Bangladesh Weaving Board. Assisting damaged weavers. Production of high quality silk yarn and products. Recommendation for Need Based Curriculum for TVI.
