Power, energy, and mineral resources state minister Nasrul Hamid on Tuesday announced that new fuel oil prices based on the automatic pricing guideline would be published in a gazette by this week. He has also told reporters at the Secretariat yesterday that the price of all kinds of fuel oils will reduce.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid also has indicated that a significant adjustment will be made to fuel oil prices in Bangladesh. Starting from Thursday, prices will be adjusted in the first week of each month under a new automatic system based on the international market, according to him.

As per automatic fuel pricing, diesel and kerosene prices may come down by Tk 102 per litre. To prevent fuel adulteration, the price of kerosene will be set at 114 TK and diesel at 102. While the price of octane is Tk 124 to Tk 122 per liter, and petrol is Tk 120 to Tk 118 per liter.

The prices of all types of fuel oil have been reduced in the country’s market. The prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane have been reduced by Tk 2 per liter for January. According to the new rates, the price of diesel per liter has been reduced by Tk 2 to Tk 102, kerosene by Tk 2 to Tk 114, petrol by Tk 2 to Tk 118, and octane by Tk 2 to Tk 122 per liter. The Energy and Mineral Resources Department issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday (December 31) night.
The new price will be effective from Thursday (January 1). It is learned that the government started automatic pricing of fuel oil in line with the global market from March last year. Accordingly, new prices are being announced every month. Currently, in addition to determining the price of fuel oil, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) determines the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) every month in line with the international market.
